Elemental Video Game Critiques

“Introducing r/VideoGamesAndReligion”

A new Reddit extension to Gamelogica has appeared!

Taking the YouTube world by storm with comments from viewers such as “cool video” and “I learned something”, Gamelogica is a channel exploring mythology, theology, legend, spirituality, folklore, history, philosophy, ethics, and culture in video games. However, being fully human, I can only create so many micro-documentaries at a time. Pressure mounts from viewers to tackle new topics that I have yet to explore.

Enter Reddit. No, seriously, check out the subreddit r/VideoGamesAndReligion. This subcommunity will give us all a chance to explore new avenues within the realm of myth and religion in video games. We need active posters and I’m calling upon you to join!

r/VideoGamesAndReligion is available for all fans of video games, no matter your creed or lack of one. We need informative, explorative, insightful, and interesting gaming, spiritual, theological, mythological, and legendary discussions. Submissions should be invested in initiating an exchange of thoughts and ideas in a welcoming and inclusive manner. No proselytizing, preaching, or discrimination. No religious debates. We have no religious affiliation.

You do not need to be religious to contribute. This isn’t about our personal beliefs. Video games are absolutely inspired by the real-world stories that our kind has told for generations since time immemorial. This is a new way we can explore those stories and come to learn more about ourselves through the games we enjoy.

For an example of the kind of content we’re planning to promote, I recently posted an analysis of the Knights of the Round summon from the original Final Fantasy VII to identify each of the knights with names from Arthurian legend. Fun! Might not be your personal brand of fun, but you’ve gotta admit it’s unique.

See you there.
