“The Pixels VIIth Anniversary: Meet the Writers!”

Today we officially commemorate the VIIth anniversary of The Pixels!
2016. 3 friends. 1 ideal. A video game review blog that didn’t suck. 7 years later, what started as thewellredmage.com became a multimedia concept that has collaborated with over 150 writers from around the world! It’s hard for me to believe it’s been 7 years…
In that time, this website has come to mean a lot to me. It’s helped me through some dark times. It’s been a constant through some of my life’s most difficult changes. It’s allowed me the opportunity to work alongside some extremely motivated, creative, and excellent human beings. It’s given me the opportunity to make creativity my life. Despite some close calls when I thought it was time to close up shop, I couldn’t be more grateful for it and for everyone who has come alongside to make it what it is today.
Since its very first post under The Well-Red Mage moniker, an ugly rage review pastiche for Final Fantasy XIII, we have had the opportunity to publish nearly 200 writers and almost 2,000 posts. The rebrand from mage to pixel was a necessary one. We even gained an Editor-in-Chief in Prof Noctis! I’m not always sure what to do with The Pixels, but I am thankful it’s still a part of my life.
To mark this auspicious occasion, we’ve put together a video event! Meet the regular writers, hear about our favorite games, and join us in discussing a big question: “Do we need video game criticism?”
