“Holiday Haul!”

3 min read

Hey, folks! I hope you enjoyed any fun, feasting, or festivities you might’ve taken part in. On my end, my family and I had an exceptional Christmas. The perfect day. Time enough to relax. More of anything that we could ask for. We even got snow! …Well, the day after, but it was close! It’s time now to talk about the holiday haul!

So what did you get for Christmas? Flash some pics, if you can!

The tradition in my house is my wife and I tell each other either what we want or what we plan to buy for each other. It makes the suspense less terrible and the surprise flat, but hey, we get what we want rather than more socks. It bagged me a PS One after I discovered I couldn’t find my original PS1 in the closet anymore.

So this year, I decided to start getting into light gun games and picked up a Nyko Super Cobra Light Gun with built-in Namco GunCon emulation, perfect for playing one of my favorite light gun games: Point Blank. The hours I spent on the arcade version as a kid will now be analogous to the hours I’ll spend as an adult in my game room with the pew pews. I am having some issues figuring out what all the extra features do and how best to calibrate it to my TV, so if you’re a light gun expert, I need to talk to you!

I bought my waifu one surprise gift, though, which was Ring Fit Adventure. She loves it! It’s pretty cool to have an RPG-lite adventure fitness game instead of one that’s merely mini-games. Wifey, as you might know, appeared on a few episodes of MAGE CAST, so you can look forward to a future episode on Ring Fit Adventure sometime in the new year.

And finally, I got my 4-year-old (and me, let’s face it) Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest CIB. Working on that CIB collection for SNES! And before you ask, it took only 18 minutes for someone to gross out over Mystic Quest after posting I got it for Christmas. A new internet record! Anyway, I look forward to introducing my son to the world of JRPGs with this JRPG-lite game built for that express purpose. Check out that map!

I hope you had a great Christmas, if you celebrated. Don’t forget to let us know what you got! Anything gaming related? Share some pics if you can!

  1. Firstly, I experienced a similar experience with my PlayStation disappearing in the closet. Except that it was this little cd case thing filled with most of my PS games. Fortunately 99% of them were garbage, so it wasn’t a complete loss…

Anyway, I got a huge gaming haul this year. I got Luigi’s Mansion 3, Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster and FF XII for Switch, the three Castlevania DS games, Legacy of Darkness for N64, and Curse of Darkness for PS2, which officially means I have concluded my journey to get every Castlevania game!! (I found most of these for incredible bargains).

I got my wife Ring Fit Adventure as well. She also got Mario Party 8 for Wii.

    1. That’s a MASSIVE haul! Wow! Enjoy Ring Fit, and all those other titles, of course! 🙂

Lighting a candle for all the lost PlayStations out there…
